Voting Information for November 7, 2017 Bond Referendum
Polling Locations and Hours
Hours for voting on November 7, 2017, will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Voters in Bena and Winnie Portage will vote at the Bena Community Center. All other voters of the district will vote at the Pike Bay Town Hall. Voters living in precincts that vote by mail in statewide elections will not receive a ballot by mail for this election. Voters not already registered may pre-register no later than October 17 by submitting a voter registration application to the Cass County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, online at mnvotes.org, or may register at the polling place on Election Day. If registering on Election Day, proof of residency in the precinct is required.
To register by mail, voters should return completed voter registration forms to the Cass County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, PO Box 3000, Walker, MN 56484, or by email to email@example.com.
To be eligible to register, voters of the district must be at least 18 years old on Election Day; a citizen of the United States; have resided in Minnesota for 20 days immediately preceding Election Day; maintain residence at the address given on the registration form; cannot be under court-ordered guardianship in which the court has revoked the right to vote; cannot have been found by a court to be legally incompetent to vote; and if convicted of a felony, the felony sentence has been completed or the sentence has been discharged.
Any eligible voter may vote early by absentee ballot through November 6. A printable absentee ballot application is available here. Voters should return absentee ballot applications to the Cass County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, PO Box 3000, Walker, MN 56484, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Voters sending absentee ballot applications by regular mail are encouraged to mail their application by October 26 to allow for mail delivery timeframes. Upon application, the absentee ballot will be mailed to the voter. Voters must return absentee ballots by mail or in person to the Cass County election office no later than 3 p.m. on Election Day. Absentee ballots will not count if they are received after Election Day.
Absentee ballots may also be applied for and cast in person at the Leech Lake Tribal Headquarters in Cass Lake, or the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office in Walker located at the Courthouse. In addition to normal business hours, extended hours for in-person absentee voting will be available on Saturday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday, November 6, until 5 p.m. at both locations.
