Adult Basic Education

CLBS offers free classes for adults. Our caring staff can help you achieve your goal!

You can improve your reading, writing, or math skills; prepare for the GED exam; earn your adult diploma; gain skills and certificates for getting a job or promotion.

Starting class is easy! Currently, we offer in-person and remote classes. Anyone 17 years old or older and not enrolled in a K-12 program should complete the online interest form. Cass Lake-Bena-Walker ABE will contact you with information and the next steps to enroll.

We will be holding classes at the ALC wing, Room 101 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00-4:00. Classes are located at LLTC Room 213 Cedar Hall 9:00-4:00 Monday and Tuesday 9:00-4:00.

You will be asked to show proof of COVID vaccination or have had a negative COVID test 72 hours prior to attending class. Please call 218-335-4284 or 218-335-2203, ext. 6101 and leave a message. We will return your call as soon as possible, usually within two days.

Cass Lake-Bena Walker ABE offers several options: Students under 21 years old are still eligible to finish the credit-based High School Diploma through Cass Lake-Bena High School or the ALC. Students 21 and older can complete the GED, the test-based secondary credential through the ABE program. (17-18-year-olds may test with an approved age waiver.) Students 19 and older can complete the Minnesota State Standard High School Diploma, a competency-based option to earn a High School Diploma.
