Dear Parents and Guardians,

Per policy, students not participating in an after school activity must go home after school and return for athletic events or activities scheduled for later in the afternoon or evening.  Students who remain after school without the authorization and supervision of their activity leader or coach will be placed on social restriction or exclusion for a minimum of one week.

Students are required to sign up for late activities by 2:00 if they are intending to participate in an after school activity or event.  Those who haven’t signed up by the deadline or who haven’t  submitted required paperwork to remain for that activity (sports physical paperwork, permission slips, etc.) will be taken off the participation list for the day, given an opportunity to contact parents or guardians to let them know they can’t participate and why,  and instructed to go home after school.  If the activity is canceled, students will be informed, given the opportunity to contact parents or guardians, and will go home at the conclusion of the school day.

Finally, to  ensure the safety of our students we ask that parents or guardians contact the office by no later than 2:00 if they plan for their child to remain after their activity, whether tutoring, drama club, speech, or an athletic practice, to attend an event or game. The call should include details of who the child will be meeting and where staff should take the child to meet that person. This helps us make sure that our students will be with an adult known by their family and will have a way to get home safely after the event.  Per district policy (page 4 of the student handbook), students who are 12 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all after school events.

Sincerely,

Chari Buhman, Principal
