Dear Cass Lake-Bena High School families,

Next week, your teen will be taking the MCA tests. The MCAs are state tests that help districts measure students’ academic growth, mastery of grade-level standards, identify strengths, and areas where additional support may be helpful. Teachers learn if they need to adjust their instruction to better meet student needs and provide insight into readiness for future coursework. While no single test defines your teen, the MCA offers an important measure of academic growth and achievement.

Participating in the MCA is also important for our school. It helps us evaluate the effectiveness of our curriculum and instructional strategies, identify areas where we can improve programs and supports, maintain an accurate accountability rating at the state level, and ensure we continue receiving appropriate resources.

Please ensure students get a good night's sleep, encourage your teen to try their best, take their time, and reinforce that this is an opportunity to show what they know.
